Process

HOW IT WORKS

Although the process for each illustration will be different, here is a general look at what it looks like to create a custom illustration together!

PROJECT OVERVIEW + PRICING

Tell me about your project!

  • We will go over the subject and scope of your project, as well as the overall effect you're going for. This may include your subject matter, important themes and colors, characters, etc.

  • Based on this information I will give you an initial price quote for your project.

  • My base rate for a one-page illustration is $300 and goes up based on complexity. Things that will increase price are fully-fleshed out backgrounds, realism, and of course multiple pages such as a children's books or series.

  • We determine if we are a good fit on style, subject matter, and budget.

BOOKING

  • We get you on the books!

  • New clients will pay a $100 deposit to reserve their booking. The $100 deposit will be deducted from the final cost of the illustration.

CONCEPT SKETCH

  • I will send you a rough concept sketch with ideas about composition, color palette, included elements, etc.

  • You can provide feedback until you absolutely love it, and then give me final approval on the concept sketch!

  • BIG changes beyond this point such as changing the overall composition, character's poses, etc. may incur an extra charge.

FEEDBACK + FINAL ILLUSTRATION

  • You will provide feedback about what's working and not working, and what you'd like to see happen next!

  • This usually takes 1-3 rounds, although sometimes more! I am dedicated to you LOVING your cover!

PAYMENT + FILES

We did it! We made an illustration together!

  • I will send you a final invoice for the remaining cost of your illustration.

  • Once the invoice is paid, I will send final files to you and/or your designer in whatever format you prefer.

  • I have a long running and amazing creative relationship with Murphy Rae, who I highly recommend. She is often booked out far in advance, but she can often get you in faster if it's for an illustrated cover ;)
